The first ever doom record on Turgid Animal. A reissue of the "In And Around Newcastle" live CD-r box set (originally issued in an edition of 50 copies by Fuckin' Amateurs last year) by North East England's Drone/Doom masters BONG. These live sets are essentially "bootleg" (albeit official) recordings and as such are not of the clearest quality, which only adds to the charm in my humble opinion. "Novum Castellum" includes the entire "In And Around Newcastle" recordings plus an extra disc of bonus live material. Limited to only 300 copies. Since resuming recording this past Autumn, F/I/T/H’s work has taken a new direction. "Carrion Wind" is an ambitious work which consolidates the sounds explored with F/I/T/H and Sky Burial into a single project, focusing them into a complex and meticulously composed 63 minute industrial opus, a dark and ominous dirge, both beautiful and brutal, incorporating aspects of metal percussion, dark ambient, drone, doom and industrial electronics. Noticeably absent are Page’s vocals as F/I/T/H takes a more "restrained" approach favoring slow layering of synths, field recordings, guitar loops and electronics to build a tension which occasionally peaks at an explosive level comparable to the shorter tracks of F/I/T/H’s previous releases.

Since the early 2000's, up until the UK tour in the summer of 2008, Gelsomina has been the musical outlet of Finnish Harsh Noise fiend, Pekka PT. A brutal mix of junk metal abuse and pedal worship, sometimes resulting in total unflinching chaos and other times resulting in a more structured industrial noise masterwork. Having released dozen's of tapes, cd's and vinyl it was never going to be an easy task to wittle it all down to CD length but through the critical eyes of the man himself, Pekka has managed to pull together 74 minutes of what he considers the best of his Gelsomina, and I couldn't agree more. Featuring a full colour tray card and 4 page booklet with liner notes by Mikko Aspa (Grunt/Freak Animal Records) and Pasi Markkula (Bizarre Uproar/Filth and Violence). Essential Harsh Noise document by a now defunct but legendary project. But it's not all bad; Watch out, Sick Seed is on the rise!

This was first released in an edition totalling 17 copies on CD-r. Why? I couldn't be sure but when I first heard this release when it came out in 2006, I thought to myself; this is some the best Harsh Pedal Noise I have ever heard and it was obvious this had to be released in a bigger edition on a proper format as soon as possible as people needed to hear this. Turgid Animal hadn't released a CD yet and I was hoping this would have been the first one, so I sent quickly sent an email to Jake asking him if I could release it and he said yes. Unfortunately, delay after delay occured and it's only just seeing the light of day on CD now, but it was well and truly worth the wait. Both tracks from the original release feature here along with a bonus track from vault, sealing this discs fate as one of the best modern harsh noise releases to come out in a while. Only the second ever pro-pressed CD by North-East England's drone masters Jazzinger. This time chronicling the first ever rehearsal and recording of the core duo of Ben Jones and Hasan Gaylani. Raw guitar recordings from 1996 fill the discs 30+ minutes and if you listen carefully on the last track you can hear the police turn up and tell them to cease making the racket! Re-issue of classic this Last Rape album from 1995, originally released on E.F. Tapes. Back then Last Rape was a Richard Ramirez and Mary A.D. Harsh Noise project, only recently has the project reared it's ugly head once more as a Harsh Noise Wall project with Sean Matzus in added to the lineup or in place of Mary A.D. This tape features two tracks in nearly 50 minutes, of what could be described as lo-fi space noise with that straight to tape 90's HN-Sound. Tones shine through the haze of a newly taken off, old, improv rocket as it lands on flanger planet. Alien's raping the abducted folks and moaning in some feedback language only they can understand. A ghastly trip through time. Very true to the original-remaster from the master tapes. Now 14 years on, Ramirez is still going strong with an array of Last Rape releases on his very own Deadline label, not to be missed. Comes in card covers (thus the lower price) with both bits of the original art and new artwork by Tisbor.

"Makes me feel like i've bored a hole into the center of the earth with my teeth!" says one friend close to this Starving Weirdo's alter-ego band. Self described as "Dune Rock" & coming from the deserts of Manila, California; this is a band very influenced by it's surroundings. Slow motion metalic riffs ring throughout the entire 50 minutes of the debut album, laying the founding for waves of rolling synth lines and sporadic clangings echoing in the distance, presumably a shamanic attempt at drums but too lost in a trance to muster any concrete tempo or rhythmn. Album of the year for me, what about you?

Following the "Astral Death" CD from earlier this year, Pete Burn and Dean Glaister return with a new disc of older tracks recorded from 2003-2004 at various times and places with various moods and instruments but somehow they manage to make the album as a whole flow like a cosmic river. Long drawn out psychedelic tones buckling under guitar motifs and heavy metallic bass form the album's core and what more could we possibly ask for? Expert drone by one of the best acts in the field. Utarm is Norway's Sindre Foss Skancke and "Minus The Divine" is the incredible new album released as follow up to 2007's "Mutilation Epoch". Experimental Black Metal and Noise rolled into one well composed and certainly exciting if not bizarre sounding album. All the best bits of Skullflower, early industrial and influences drawn from his countries native Black Metal underworld fighting for space amongst a backdrop of blackened Harsh Noise filth. Brand new project from Matthew Bower of Skullflower and Samantha Davis' of GYR/Harm. This album definitely demostrates the direction in which Mr. Bower has been taking with his other projects as of late and could easily be described as Black Metal in it's purest form but this is no Skullflower rip off. Samantha's Davis' input has certainly altered Mattthew's musical vision and it is easy to hear the sound of a true collaboration at work. Six long tracks of heavy music running in at a total of nearly 65 minutes.

Steev Thompson, Previously Roxanne Jean Polise and Branden Diven, of Drenches, make up 3 long tracks of beautiful drone ambience and show why they are one of the best in the field. This release collects two previously, ridiculously limited LP (on the Arbor label) and tape (Warmth's side of a split with Quintana Roo on Not Not Fun) releases that were simply too good to let slip into the realms of obscurity. This PRO-CD comes in a standard jewel case with clear tray and full colour back garden artwork by Steev.
