"Atomizador is Jose who runs the Madrid-based label Afeite Al Perro. The album Pop Radical features a great amount of fast acoustic picking on mostly acoustic guitar. The picking is quite beautiful and sounds harp-like. The Spanish influence is a bit apparent in the melodies. The album also incorporates some cheerful, sunshine-y, washed out vocals reminiscent of Animal Collective’s style. They have a chanting quality making some nice harmonies and doing some interesting call and response work. Most of the songs are quite short in length, giving them a nice pop-like quality, thus aptly titled Pop Radical. LP edition of 300"

Clare Hubbard stays busy with her musical projects Ancestral Diet and Sports, but she might be best known for her folk-based work as Caethua. Her side is entitled "Wrecks and Rescues", and is an epic and dusty side-long track of beautiful creaking folk-craft. In the winter of 2008, Clare recorded herself at home in Bloomington, IN. She delicately layers synth, strings, horns, electronics, percussion and vocals, along with 5 years worth of field recordings taken from the St. Lawrence River and her wanderings through swamps, fields and forests. "Following his "Internationale" cassette and the "Solidarity" CD (both on Banned Production), "Die Arbeiter von Wien" displays the 3rd part in Jupitter-Larsen's series of renditions of old trade union/battle songs. Written by the Vienesse lyricist and essayist Fritz Brügel, presumably in the late 1920's, this piece deals with the events during the so-called "July-Revolt" in the capital of Austria on July 15, 1927. The cause of these events was a court verdict, which aquitted 3 members of the right-wing "Frontkämpfervereinigung Deutsch-Österreichs" of a charge. It was the very same persons, who were responsible for the death of a man and an 8-year-old child in January of the same year. The "Black Friday", as it went down in history, led to the palace of justice in flames and left 84-89 demonstrators shot dead by austrian police forces, more than 600 people injured and set the stage for a fascist takeover in Austria. 2 renditions, crude, P.E.-ish, vocal-heavy. In short: Commensurate to the occurrences at the time. One side with the original german lyrics, one side with the lyrics translated into english. Birthdays consists of two live sets by maverick amplified-glass player Justice Yeldham recorded during his & Keg's recent tour of Europe. If you've never heard of the guy you are in for a bloody treat. Using concert-grade piano contact mics, he amplifies a sheet of glass and plays it with his mouth and face, processing it with pedals attached to his belt, usually barefooted. The results are unworldly, and hearing it you would never imagine what created it, something only an Aussie could achieve. Like careening assaults of insect spaceships, he transports the listener to other worlds of sound, ending most often in a crash of the glass upon his head. He survives, bloody but alive, never worse for wear in the morning. Side A was captured in Marseille on the eve of Justice's 35th birthday while side B was recorded on Kegs birthday in Porto (for a preview listen at myspace.com/justiceyeldham ). Proctor's Murder Book project has been focusing on the more mondo cane side of heavy drone music and the more murderous side of old school industrial noise, this first vinyl outing is no different. The first and only side of this release is a full on bass/guitar kraut-styled work out from the depths of the Sparrow Pit, slowly weaving and blurring itself into abyss, ending with a slow growl of discomfort. The CD-r features two drawn out synth experiments from the tail end of this year to round off the proceedings. Grim, laser-printed artwork on blue paper loose inside a PVC sleeve with the record inside a white paper sleeve and housed in a black card outer sleeve. Simple like the music within.

"Another week, another Sloth split! What the hell do I care, they're one of my favourite bands and I've yet to hear anything they've come up with that I don't love. This is ostensibly one track by them (but sounds like it's in three parts?!), bass-heavy and menacing with some bizarre vocals. I played it to a friend recently who said it sounded like Sesame Street gone wrong. A reasonably prescient point methinks. Weluvpot do loads of songs on their side, they sound like Sloth if Sloth had even worse recording equipment and weren't able to play their instruments very well. That's not a criticism, this is some ace fucked-up nonsense! ULTRA lofi noisecore/grind....dunno if it could accurately even be described as that, is just a total mess. "Christian Koehler was the motivating mind behind the project, Stabat Mors. Fusing thematic concepts and philosophical ideas based on Althusser, Mishima, Derrida, Artaud and Cioran, the accompanying noise is a confrontation with distorted accordian, metal, piano and microphone to tube; a farewell release that is a sharp feedback orgy and celebration of despair. "Hegels Tod" is the first track: a solo recording from 2006. Very isolated, sad and extreme, the mix is an infusion of trying to bind the theme of death into sound. It was the last track recorded before he died the same year. The second piece is a documentation of Stabat Mors' first live show at the Neues Museum Bremen in 2004, featured here as a trio. Etuede 2 & 3 of "Bild und Tod nach Derrida" is a mixture of lecture and noise-cacophonia. Richard Ramirez appears on the other side of the LP with long track recorded in 2006. "Error Strike" is a barrage of dynamic, crushing noise; an enduring wall that spans twenty minutes! This lp is pro-pressed in a full-colored record jacket with paintings by Christian Koehler. Additionally, the album comes with a huge insert featuring the text, to "Bild und Tod nach Derrida". The lp is the memorial to Christian. "Street Drinkers is the solo moniker of Viktor Ottosson (Ättestupa). Since 2008, he's been laying down his gloomy patterns to some of the weirdest and most intruiging music we've heard in quite a while. Influences are said to be acts like Cluster, Harmonia and La Düsseldorf, and here they are continuing the relaxed path taken on the split tape with an even more developed and refined sound.
