White Medal - "White Medal" 7"

White Medal -

£4.49

Co-release with Grief Foundation. From the North of England comes White Medal. The EP features 2 tracks of cold black metal that draw the listener in, building and droning through layer and layer until a crushing peak of near complete wall-of-noise. Vocals lay at the back of WM's music, sounding simultaneously like torturer and tortured. Jubilant yet menacing, the primitivism and organic sound of White Medal is sure to be compared to bands such as Ancestors, Ash Pool and to some extent Bone Awl. The EP is pressed on white vinyl, with a screen-printed white-on-black folder sleeve. As is usual for Grief Foundation vinyl releases, the EP was mastered at Optimum Mastering, Bristol (UK).

Altar Of Flies -

Altar Of Flies - "Förruttnelsen" LP (Release The Bats)

Price: £13.00

Quantity:

"First vinyl fullength from Mattias Gustafsson aka Altar Of Flies. Since the start in 2006, this prolific artist from Mjölby, Sweden, has done releases on Cipher, Husk, Hästen & Korset, Nil By Mouth and 905, just to name a few. Förruttnelsen is the first new release on RTB since the split LP with Sewer Election which was released early 2008. More organic and mostly recorded live to tape, Förruttnelsen shows a side of Altar Of Flies more reminiscent to the sounds of his live shows. This is more minimalistic in it's approach, weaving together tapeloops, field recordings, junk abuse and raw disciplined electronics creating an claustrophobic and bleak soundscape. Everything slowly builds up towards the abrasive 14 minute long title track closer, making this an monumental journey in all it's gloomy glory. Recorded between April and December 2009. 5 tracks, 41 minutes. Mastered by Viktor Ottosson (Ättestupa). Full colour artwork by Daniel Fagerström. 270 copies". - Label Description

Ättestupa -

Ättestupa - "Begraven Mot Norr" LP (Release The Bats)

Price: £13.00

Quantity:

"North of the church, only the worst of mankind was buried. Under the dark soil you could find people who had ended their own lives. Murderers. Thieves. Here in the shadow, the poor souls were gathered for their last rest. Begraven Mot Norr, the second album from Ättestupa, is themed around funeral customs and death processions in the past centuries of rural Sweden. The first LP was described as a mix of folk tones, 70's German prog, noise and black metal, and via the Att Korsa Den Flod Som Kommer Dränka Oss Alla tape (Abisko) and 1867 12" (DNT), that mixture was refined. With Begraven Mot Norr, Ättestupa returns with their most accomplished and complex recording so far, a natural progression from Änglamakerskan (their praised contribution to the Utmarken compilation 10"). Opening with an eerie violin over a rushing river, the bleak tone is immediately set. Set to a backbone of monotonous drumming, guitars and organs take the freezing lead in the sinister arrangements. Abrasive electronics intersects with field recordings and a sparse and elegant use of acoustic instruments. The chant-like vocals lure somewhere in the background, working as an instrument on it's own. Often based on scrap metal junk abuse and tape loops, the droning interludes from their recent live sets are incorporated. The overall atmosphere is more melancholic, paving itself through different shades of grey with a calmer and more distinct sound than before. Recorded between summer 2009 and spring 2010. 2 tracks, 35 minutes. Mastered by Viktor Ottosson. Comes with a A1 poster. 521 copies". - Label Description

Mutant Ape -

Mutant Ape - "Erotic Yorkshire" LP (Ecstatic Peace)

Price: £10.00

Quantity:

"Mutant Ape is the insane noise project by Yorkshire, UK resident George Proctor. George runs the Turgid Animal label, which since 2005 has been the go-to place for harsh noise, power electronics and other demented spuzz releasing over 500 CDs, CDRS, cassettes, LPs, 10"s, 7"s etc. He has been releasing Mutant Ape sounds wherever and whenever establishing his classic yet contemporary noise/horror vision of lust and spectacle as one of the premier scum artists of the last decade. Erotic Yorkshire is Mutant Ape at its most corrosive delivering from track to track occult ambience to skin shredding power drug electronics. All bookended by the demented and misogynist rants of Jamie Gillis. Artwork by the fractured mind of Tisbor. Disgust, depression, defilement and demotion are all here for those of you who demand only the best in carnal crud". - Label Description

Sewer Election - Bristning Sewer Election - Bristning

Sewer Election - Bristning Sewer Election - Bristning

Price: £11.99

Quantity:

"Originally released as a tape in 100 copies on Klorofyll Kassetter in 2008 which sold out immediately, Bristning finally gets the vinyl treatment. For this reissue, Dan Johansson revisited the original masters recorded at Utmarken in 2008 and elaborated it into an extended version, now clocking in on 33 minutes. Bristning shows the progression between the loop-based vocal manipulations on Kassettmusik (iDEAL) and the Vidöppna Sår LP (Pan), weaving together elements from both. A RTB favorite in the big Sewer Election discography. Mastered for vinyl by Viktor Ottosson. Klorofyll said: "Sewer Election gives you a twisted world of decay and filth. Putting out records since 2002, on labels like Segerhuva, Release the Bats!, iDEAL and Troniks, you can definately say Sewer Election has been around quite a while delivering his punches of endlessly violent bursts of noise. Earlier this year, on his latest album called Kassettmusik, Sewer Election introduced a new sound to his music, replacing his former well knowned harsh noise to a more subtle and restrained soundscape, although nonetheless still filled with the corrupting and creepy feeling of moral decay and disease. In many ways Bristning is following in this direction, continuing with a tapeloop orientated sound, and in many ways it is not. Using all kinds metal junk to create analogue noise this recording is at times far more harsh than any fx-pedal ever can be. Bristning consists of only analogue sounds, recorded using microphones and a tapedeck, reducing the artificial feeling and creates a gritty and filthy sound of a world falling into pieces". - Label Description

Sick Seed -

Sick Seed - "The Great Corrupter" LP (Filth & Violence)

Price: £10.99

Quantity:

"This is truly a landmark album. I've heard all of the previous Sick Seed material, but I was not prepared for The Great Corrupter. The tracks here truly exceeded my expectations, surpassing all previous SS material. Each track is filled with tiny details and slow manipulations that reward attentive listening. The songs all revolve around a few main sounds; a synth line, the vocals, mic feedback, and what sounds like a seriously fucked up guitar. The sound is always evolving, truly progressive, each sound taking center stage and then retreating. The delivery is slow and deliberate, carefully paced for maximum destruction and malice. The vocals never over power the mix, but remain ever menacing. The first half is a little more experimental. Verbanntes Land writhes, with an almost tribal mixture of bass and percussive elements, while Plague Area is almost static, thick with tension. The two biggest standouts for me are Snow Fell, an unconventional and dramatic Skrewdriver cover and The Most Hated Crime of Them All which uses a piano mantra to the most sinister effect. Despite the varied sounds used, the consistent approach and atmosphere truly create an album experience. This is essential not just for fans of that special Finnish sound, but all for anyone into Power Electronics. Don't sleep on this, because with quality like this it will be gone fast" - Zero Beat from discogs.com

Sloth/Weluvpot -

Sloth/Weluvpot - "Split" 7" (At War With False Noise)

Price: £4.00

Quantity:

"Another week, another Sloth split! What the hell do I care, they're one of my favourite bands and I've yet to hear anything they've come up with that I don't love. This is ostensibly one track by them (but sounds like it's in three parts?!), bass-heavy and menacing with some bizarre vocals. I played it to a friend recently who said it sounded like Sesame Street gone wrong. A reasonably prescient point methinks. Weluvpot do loads of songs on their side, they sound like Sloth if Sloth had even worse recording equipment and weren't able to play their instruments very well. That's not a criticism, this is some ace fucked-up nonsense! ULTRA lofi noisecore/grind....dunno if it could accurately even be described as that, is just a total mess. Love it, hope to hear a lot more from these guys! 300 copies, 200 on black vinyl with white sleeves, 100 on various colours and various sleeves (most of mine are kinda green/brown/black splatter). Co-release with Shifty and Sludgesicle". - Label Description

Stabat Mors/Richard Ramirez -

Stabat Mors/Richard Ramirez - "Hideous Bliss" LP (Scrotum Records)

Price: £11.99

Quantity:

"Christian Koehler was the motivating mind behind the project, Stabat Mors. Fusing thematic concepts and philosophical ideas based on Althusser, Mishima, Derrida, Artaud and Cioran, the accompanying noise is a confrontation with distorted accordian, metal, piano and microphone to tube; a farewell release that is a sharp feedback orgy and celebration of despair. "Hegels Tod" is the first track: a solo recording from 2006. Very isolated, sad and extreme, the mix is an infusion of trying to bind the theme of death into sound. It was the last track recorded before he died the same year. The second piece is a documentation of Stabat Mors' first live show at the Neues Museum Bremen in 2004, featured here as a trio. Etuede 2 & 3 of "Bild und Tod nach Derrida" is a mixture of lecture and noise-cacophonia. Richard Ramirez appears on the other side of the LP with long track recorded in 2006. "Error Strike" is a barrage of dynamic, crushing noise; an enduring wall that spans twenty minutes! This lp is pro-pressed in a full-colored record jacket with paintings by Christian Koehler. Additionally, the album comes with a huge insert featuring the text, to "Bild und Tod nach Derrida". The lp is the memorial to Christian. It is sad that he will never see the final result". - Label Description

Street Drinkers/Skeppet -

Street Drinkers/Skeppet - "Split" LP (Release The Bats)

Price: £11.00

Quantity:

"Street Drinkers is the solo moniker of Viktor Ottosson (Ättestupa). Since 2008, he's been laying down his gloomy patterns to some of the weirdest and most intruiging music we've heard in quite a while. Based around repetitive keyboards, tape loops and chanted vocals, Street Drinkers here delivers 4 tracks with a macabre and sombre mindset. Atmospheric and heavy on the melancholia with some underlying gothic tendencies. Regressive, spiteful and just wrong. Crude recordings with a fidelity not far away from the rotten fuss of mothership Ättestupa. Drums on Clouded Sky by Hannes Norrvide from Lust For Youth/Viking Jews. Previous releases out on Goaty, Utmarken, Kosmisk Väg and Sound Holes. Skeppet from Malmö consists of Andreas Malm and Henrik Wallin (both members of long running project Fria Konstellationen, as well as heads in charge of the great Kosmisk Väg imprint). Their well-recieved debut tape from 2008 was followed by a split tape with Gothenburgs own Viking Jews in 2009. Influences are said to be acts like Cluster, Harmonia and La Düsseldorf, and here they are continuing the relaxed path taken on the split tape with an even more developed and refined sound. A long and mesmerizing trip into the sun, and a truly beautiful take on kraut/kosmische music. The perfect soundtrack for late summer nights. 2 tracks. Total playtime of 40 minutes. Artwork by Dan Johansson (Street Drinkers cover/insert) and Henrik Wallin (Skeppet cover/insert). 275 copies". - Label Description

V/A -

V/A - "Utmarken" 10" (Release The Bats)

Price: £11.99

Quantity:

"Gothenburg 2009. There's something in the air and something is stirring in the eclectic underground. Brewing magic, movements in every corner and truly exciting times. This is a small document of the first year of Utmarken with four acts contributing one track each. Street Drinkers, the soloproject of Viktor from Ättestupa, uses layers of synths and vocals to create minimal and dreamy music reminiscent of Wet Hair and Peaking Lights, but with a unique Swedish touch. After the feedback-mayhem on the Gothenburg Blood Cult Tape, Källarbarnen is now back with a more subtle and somewhat mellow track, here using synths, drums, bass and vocals. All lights are out and everything is falling apart. White is Dan from Ättestupa/Sewer Election, and the project should be known from the tapes on Harsh Head Rituals and Segerhuva. Hitting it hard with distorted synthbuzz and vocals, it ends up like the bastard child of Suicide via filth, crime and abuse. Ättestupa ends everything with the best song they have done, a haunting and intense piece called Änglamakerskan. Freezing winds evokes the mean spirit of an long forgotten era. Total Swedish coldness and there is no way back. The 10" comes with liner notes by Matthias Andersson as well as a photo collage from Utmarken. All tracks were recorded at Utmarken between fall 2008 and spring 2009. Mastered by Pete Swanson. Front photography by Andy Liffner, mugshots on the back by David Eng". - Label Description

Viking Jews / Smycken - Split LP (Release The Bats)

Viking Jews / Smycken - Split LP (Release The Bats)

Price: £10.00

Quantity:

"Hailing from Gothenburg, Viking Jews is the brainchild of Hannes Norrvide (also a member of bleak rascal duo Lust For Youth), which after a few selfreleased cassettes here offers up 20 shimmering minutes for his vinyl debut. Melancholic and rhythmic stuff melted through cheap keyboards, distinguished vocals and some serious cassette-flippin', somewhat covered under layers of dust, delay and piles of trashed skateboard decks. Twisted west coast ambience and Scandinavian heat all over. Think of Monopoly Child Star Searchers, early Dolphins Into The Future and Innercity and maybe you are halfways. All new material, except the inclusion of the beautiful ambient-closer from the Boneless cassette which we just couldn't resist to put on vinyl. Smycken resides in Gothenburg/Malmö/Copenhagen and consists of Rasmus Svensson and Hanna Nilsson. Just as with Viking Jews, this is the first vinyl-apperance from Smycken after most notably a cassette on Night People and a CD-R on Psychic Malmö (both released in 2009). 4 tracks of hazy and dreamy music, pushing forward everything towards a more refined pop-sound but without loosing it's initial Fonal-esque psychedelic blurs and almost folky undertones. Current popular culture is being demolished and embraced at the same time. Tracks like Marble Slabz will have you, with a big smile, asking yourself what the fuck just happened and the closer Mysterious Moonlight is the closest thing we have come to a ballad in the RTB discography since... well, ever. Mastered by Viktor Ottosson. 275 copies. Blue vinyl". - Label Description
